Inspired by our iconic Cortina 1956 sweater this new interpretation offers the look of a yoke knit sweater in a raglan sleeve construction. The Vågsøy wool sweater is made of 100% lightweight wool and features slightly loose sleeves and a crew neck lined with skin soft merino wool for extra comfort.

About the Wool
Seagull - Lightweight Wool
Our premium yarn from South American crossbred sheep, produced exclusively for Dale of Norway. This light and soft yarn is perfect for mid-layer garments requiring a lighter and softer feel. To make it machine washable it undergoes a revolutionary new wool treatment using natural non-toxic salts. Naturally, our wool is mulesing-free. Garments knitted with Seagull can be machine washed using wool-cycle. (Fiber diameter: 27 micron)
History
The pattern design is from our original 1956 Cortina sweater – our first ever Olympic sweater made for the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d’Ampezzo. The Cortina pattern captures the very essence of Norwegian tradition and has become one of Norway’s most beloved patterns.
Vågsøy is an island situated on the outer shore of Nordfjorden, one of the fjords of west coast Norway. The island houses the city of Måløy, one of the main fishing ports in Norway.
