The Run Traveler · Lake George, New York

One race. A whole Adirondack weekend.

The inaugural Lake George 70.3 triathlon is scheduled for Sunday, June 13, 2027. Race weekend offers an opportunity to experience the southern Adirondacks, whether you are competing, supporting a friend or bringing the family.

The IRONMAN Group announced the event on October 19, 2026. This independent travel guide covers the trip around the race. Read our announcement coverage →

Where to stay

Lake George Village is an appealing base for anyone who wants the waterfront, dining and shops near their hotel. Staying elsewhere in Warren County gives you a different visit. Check the final event map before assuming any hotel is close to transition or an athlete shuttle.

Lake George Village

Choose for walkable restaurants, a busy waterfront and an easy evening stroll.

Bolton Landing

Choose for a quieter lakeside experience farther north, with a drive to event activities.

Queensbury or Glens Falls

Choose for more places to stay, dine and explore south of the village.

Browse Lake George Area lodging →. Ask about bike storage, early breakfast, parking, cancellation rules and checkout time before reserving.

Before the race: enjoy the place without tiring your legs

Walk Beach Road. Stroll beside the lake, look across to the Adirondack hills and get familiar with the village. Beach Road visitor information →

Spend a quiet hour at Shepard Park. The park sits by the water near Canada Street, with space to sit and take in the view. See park details →

Keep training familiar. If you normally do a brief pre-race shakeout, keep your effort easy and use open pedestrian routes. Avoid hard climbs or long hikes before your event. Course maps, closures and transition access need final organizer confirmation.

Coffee, breakfast and dinner in the village

Choose meals that fit your normal routine before a long race. For an outing afterward, the village has plenty to sample. Here are three distinct options to research for your trip.

Coffee + breakfast

Caffé Vero

35 Montcalm Street

Coffee, breakfast and a casual morning stop.

Dinner

Saluti

25 Canada Street

Italian dining for an evening together.

Casual

Giuseppe's Pizza

337 Canada Street

Pizza and Italian-American food in the village.

For spectators and families

Race day should be comfortable for your support crew, too. Agree on a meeting location, bring weather layers and snacks, and use official spectator guidance rather than guessing about bike-course crossings. The preliminary announcement is not a road-closure map.

  • Shepard Park: a centrally located waterfront destination and a place to rest between plans, subject to event access.
  • Village shops and attractions: a way to spend a few hours without a long drive.
  • A scenic lake cruise: a memorable choice for a different day or an open race-day window, subject to schedules and traffic restrictions.
  • Fort William Henry and other nearby attractions: options for families who want a change of pace.
