How Better Bins works

Drop off. Collect. Sort.

Bring eligible items

Drop unwanted athletic footwear or fitness apparel into a Better Bin at a participating Confluence Running store.

We consolidate shipments

Our stores collect donated items and prepare them for shipment through the Sneaker Impact program.

Sneaker Impact evaluates them

Sneaker Impact sorts received items and determines the appropriate reuse, recycling, or repurposing pathway based on condition and program channels.

What to bring

Use the bin for the right items.

Accepted through our program

  • Running shoes and athletic sneakers
  • Fitness jackets and shirts
  • Fitness shorts and pants
  • Socks and sock liners
  • Insoles and similar fitness apparel or gear

Please keep these out

  • Dress shoes
  • Boots
  • Cleats
  • High heels
  • Sandals

If you are unsure about an item, ask the team at your local store before placing it in the bin.

Condition does not need to be perfect.

The point of the program is to sort items by what can happen next. A pair may be suitable for continued use, or it may be near the end of its usable life and better suited to another diversion pathway. Bring eligible items clean and dry when practical.

Where to donate

Drop off at your local Confluence Running community.

Lake Placid customers can also visit Lake Placid Running & Triathlon Company.

Latest shipment

21 more pairs moved through the program in September 2026.

Sneaker Impact reported the latest shipment as 15 good sneakers, 2 casual/mixed pairs, and 4 end-of-life pairs. That shipment brought our 2026 total to 711 collected pairs.
