Greater Binghamton is known for its historic carousels, and the CFJ Park carousel is among the region’s most recognizable. The Carousel 5K combines a traditional road race with a festival atmosphere and helps connect the running community to the people working to preserve Johnson City’s public spaces and traditions.

The race is deliberately tied to Johnson City Rotary Carousel Day rather than standing alone. Recent editions have included a custom shirt, carousel-themed finisher medal, post-race festival, vendors, entertainment and Confluence Running gift-card awards for overall and age-group winners. Community impact
A portion of race proceeds has supported Johnson City Rotary and its work in the community. The race gives runners a reason to show up early while helping bring more people into the park for the broader Carousel Day celebration.
